There are quite a few constants making up the charts, but it is great to see local artists in the UK and Australia being right up there with the US big-hitters.

Props to X-Factor winner Matt Cardle for nabbing the Christmas no.1 spot this year in the UK following last year's  Rage Against The Machine campaign to boycott winner Joe McElderry debuting in the top spot (although he eventually reached the top position the following week). It is interesting to note however, that Cardle's first week sales amounted to approximately 439,000 copies, which is slightly short of the approximate 500,000 copies Rage Against The Machine sold of single Killing In The Name of last year.

US-superstar Katy Perry (Brand) will also be having a great Christmas, holding onto the no.1 spot with Firework, her third no.1 single from album Teenage Dream. It will be interesting to see if Mrs Brand will continue this undefeated run next year with the album's fourth release Peacock.

And following the worldwide smash Just The Way You Are, Bruno Mars is riding high with Grenade, sitting comfortably at no.3 in the US and pulling his second no.1 hit in Australia.

Congratulations to all!
